Geography subject in Wuhan University is domestic “project 985”, “project 211” and 2011 Collaborative Innovation Center, which own a national key disciplines of cartography and geography information system, a provincial key disciplines of geography, a first class discipline of doctoral and postdoctoral program, as well as a geographical science education base for scientific researchers and teachers. It also has academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as the position for “The Recruitment Program of Global Experts” and “Chang Jiang Scholars Program”. As rapidly promoting, the geography subject ranked on fourth by the evaluation from The Ministry of Education, and also in 100-150 place on QS for last 3years, moreover in the top 1% place of ESI.

There are many excellent labs with advanced technology and talents belong to the Wuhan University Geography Subject including the State Key Laboratory of Information Engineering in Surveying, Mapping and Remote sensing, the Ministry of Education Key Laboratory of Geographic Information System, the Ministry of Education International Cooperation Key Laboratory of Geo-information Science and some provincial key laboratories.

In last 5years, we did about 100 projects which respectively belong to the National Basic Research Program of China (973 Program), the National High Technology Research and Development Program("863"Program), the Natural Science Foundation of China, the National Science-technology Support Plan Projects etc., and awarded many prizes from scientific achievements which include National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology, provincial prizes, and international academy awards.
